Day 5

English:

Although our journey was coming to an end, London didn’t fail to take our breath away with its luscious flow and lively ambiance. From the London Eye to the Universal Studios of the making of Harry Potter, the city had even more to offer us.

Once again, our day began since the early morning, regardless of all the exhaustion, making the best out of it. Our first stop, the Greenwich village, was a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. We embraced the beauty and the serenity of the vast and flawless green spaces through the screens of our phones. Selfies were awfully abundant, damaged by the not so witty « Elites » (Mr. Elia’s group). The « 313 » members somehow managed to remain intact : the attacks were mostly blocked. (Mrs. Hammoud’s group). The self-proclaimed « Fabulous Ones » seemed to be taken away by their glamour (Mrs. Kurdi’s group). On the other hand, the « Selfies » (Miss Wehbe’s group) -no comment needed- were too focused on their « Selfiesness », disregarding everybody else.

We then proceeded to the Royal Observatory where Mr. Elia sent us on a trip to space, enlightening us with a physics lesson. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see directly through the first telescope ever created, due to maintenance issues. However, our englightenment wasn’t restricted to just scientific facts, it took a new path. Monkey business was introduced by Mr. Elia’s musical ears and clapping skills : we played games and sang camp songs that made us laugh longly. Hunger stroke after that, which led us to lunch at Cafe Rouge, a lovely local restaurant. Knowing that fullness and sleepiness come hand in hand, the entire bus was asleep on our way to the British Museum. We woke up to a glimpse of some great ancient civilisations with the Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian and African cultures. We were given fascinating information, like the fact that the old Greek temples were decorated by friezes showing what used to happen during ceremonies back then.

After traveling through different ages, we were welcomed by the huge green spaces of Hyde Park. Our lungs were almost sore knowing that the air was heavenly fresh. Some chose football while others settled for a relaxing pause on the pure grass accompanied by some squirrels. And just before leaving, Nader and Rayan took up the role of street performers with their flute/ukulele cover of The Hanging Tree. It was indeed a spiritual outbreak and an escape from the concrete jungle. Nevertheless, our shopping spirit got the best of us heading once again to Oxford Street where the wind flew through our pockets.

Unexpected as it was, our enthusiasm and the friendliness of our teachers formed a bridge over the gap that seperated us. As our tour guide Katerina would say, it was a «khell » of an « amessing » trip.

Francais:

Mission accomplie !
